Frequently Asked
Q: How do you maintain your center's cleanliness?
A: Our teachers are kept to a very high standard. Toys are sanitized weekly, or as often as needed. Surfaces, including tables, shelves & floors are sanitized & cleaned daily. Mouthed toys are sanitized immediately. ISALSC also contracts Enviro-Masters to deep clean our restrooms weekly. They provide a sanitation service, and anti-bacterial service that ensures the containment of communicable diseases. The Center Director also conducts monthly Deep Cleaning Checks in each classroom. The teachers are held accountable, and earn points based on the cleanliness of their classes. Because we are a Life Skill Center, we also have our students aid us in keeping the center clean. They are responsible for taking out garbage's, sweeping, some dishes & wiping down surfaces. With this, we instill a sense of pride and respect for our classrooms within each student. **Adjustments have been made to our cleaning policies & procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment throughout the COVID19 Pandemic.
Q: What is your classroom ratio?
A: ISALSC follows the rules & regulations put forth by Utah State Health Department & Licensing.
Ratio is dependent on the age of the children in the classroom. Licensing states that School Age ratio is 20:1, Prekindergarten is 17:1, and Preschool is 9:1. It is important to us, that we keep our student count below these ratios for several reasons. At ISALSC your child is not just another number to us. They don't disappear in the shuffle of the classroom. While these are the ratios the state provides, we ensure that there are 2 teachers in the classroom at all times.
Q:What holidays are you closed?
A: ISALSC is closed major holidays. New Years Eve, New Years Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Pioneer Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day. We are also closed MLK day for training purposes, and close early the 3rd Friday every August for Training Purposes.
Q: How do you discipline students?
A: While it is developmentally appropriate for children of all ages to act out, our staff is trained to handle all moments of defiance. At ISALSC, we use positive reinforcement & redirection. Through positive connections children learn to receive attention, reward & growth through positive behavior and action.
Q: What qualifications do your teachers & staff have?
A: While the state requires at least 20 training hours per year, ISALSC goes above & beyond this requirement. All of our ISALSC staff is fully equipped with their First Aid, CPR, & Food Handlers Permit. They also are required to attend monthly trainings, and meet goals within their classrooms every quarter. ISALSC seeks out care givers & educators with a passion for impacting children's lives, who are equipped with at least a years previous experience. The Director Miss.Bri has several degrees/licenses including her Child Development Associates with an emphasis in Preschool Education.
